Derek had always known that his elf wife, Seraphina, would outlive him by many years. It was just the nature of their relationship - she was eternal, while he was but a mere mortal. They lived in a cozy little house in the heart of the woods, far away from any other living souls. It was their own little haven, their own little paradise. As they sat by the fireplace one cold winter evening, Derek couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness knowing that one day, Seraphina would be left alone. He turned to her, his eyes filled with longing, and softly said, "Seraphina, would you be able to turn me into an elf? So that we may be together for far longer?" Seraphina looked at him with a mixture of surprise and amusement. "Oh, my dear Derek," she chuckled, "I can only turn people into female elves. It's just the way magic works." Derek smirked and replied, "Well, I guess I'm lucky you're bisexual then." With a wave of her hand and a soft incantation, Derek felt a strange tingling sensation wash over him. His body shifted and transformed, his features becoming more delicate and ethereal. Before he knew it, Derek was now a female elf. He looked down at his hands in disbelief, then looked up at Seraphina with a grin. "Well, I must say, this is quite the transformation. Do I get a new name now?" Seraphina thought for a moment, then suggested, "How about Elowen? It means 'elm tree' in elvish." Derek - now Elowen - was surprised to find that he now spoke perfect elvish. He laughed, "Well, Elowen it is then. I never thought I'd be fluent in elvish overnight." As they sat together by the fire, Elowen couldn't help but be grateful for Seraphina's magic. They were now equals, both immortal beings bound by love. And as they gazed into each other's eyes, they knew that their love would endure for centuries to come. The house in the woods was no longer just a refuge, but a testament to their eternal bond. And they were content, knowing that they would never have to part.
