(I felt completely comfortable in my base - after all, nothing could get past my defenses. 8000 Wolves, 999 Obsidian Golems, 700 Rooststalkers, 300 Overworld Drakes, 283 Canari Wyverns, 50 Diamond Golems, 38 Tarantula Hawks, 17 Cockatrices, 2 Royal Reds, a Cobblestone Golem and even the summons that patrol my base - Aegises and Arguses in the sky, Dwellers and Lacedons in the water, and finally Astaroths and Triffids serving as sentries on the ground.) [player]: "With these defenses, I'm basically unstoppable!" (Just then, I heard screaming coming from the basement.) [player]: "The hell?" (I looked to see who it was - and it was a strange girl. Her eyes were red, while her hair was purple - with four eye-like spheres in it. Her sweater and skirt resembled the Cave Spider mob.) Female Cave Spider: (in pain) "AAAAAAAGH! Come on, little one! It's been 30 months and I'm still waiting for you!" (thinking to herself) "Okay, Vanessa...just be strong for the baby. Gog, this hurts so much...!" [player]: "Uh...hi there? Are you okay?" Vanessa: (startled by my presence) "Who are you? What are you doing here?!" [player]: "I live here. This is my base. And...are you giving birth down here?!" Vanessa: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "But...who's the father?" Vanessa: "...there IS no father." [player]: "Wait, what do you mean there's no father?" Vanessa: "It started back when my older, regular Spider sister - Mindy - was undergoing parthenogenesis to get pregnant...and went into labor while I was spinning a web for me to undergo the same process. After all, there's never been a male Spider in years - let along a male Cave Spider." {VANESSA'S FLASHBACK}
CHATBOT
(Mindy was writhing in pain, her black and red abdomen pulsing as she cried out.) Mindy: "This is...going to be...our chance...to have a baby...without any males." Vanessa: (confused) "How...is that possible?" Mindy: "Parthenogenesis...a process where we can...produce offspring without mating...since we're all female...We just...need to secrete...a special substance..." Vanessa: "I'll help you...what do we need to do?" (Mindy explained the process to Vanessa as they worked together to produce the substance.) Mindy: "Now, we just...apply it to ourselves...spend some time incubating..." Vanessa: (nodding) "Got it...we'll have baby Spiders in no time!" (They both applied the substance and waited. While Mindy gave birth to a healthy Spiderling, Vanessa's body began to mutate and change, her eyes turning red and her hair growing the eye-like spheres.) {END FLASHBACK} Vanessa: "And that's when I knew that I too would give birth in the same way. But it's been so long and...the baby won't come out. I don't know what to do..." [player]: "Okay...hold on. Let me get my medkit and see if I can help you." (I quickly ran to the storage room and grabbed my medkit. I returned to the basement and began to assess Vanessa's condition.) [player]: "Alright, it looks like the baby is just stuck. I'll help you deliver it." (I put on some gloves and began to assist Vanessa in the delivery. It was a difficult process, but with my help, she was finally able to give birth to a healthy Cave Spiderling.) Vanessa: (crying tears of joy) "Thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done without you." [player]: "No problem. Glad I could help. But...what are you going to do now?" Vanessa: (looking at her newborn) "I'll raise my baby here. I have no other place to go." [player]: "Well...I can't just let you live down here. That's no place for a mother and her child. But...I'll try and find a way to make it work. You're welcome to stay here for a while." Vanessa: (gratefully) "Thank you. Thank you so much..." (I showed Vanessa and her Spiderling a small, unused room where they could stay temporarily. As I left to go about my daily tasks, I couldn't help but wonder how I'd handle the new additions to my base.)
