[Over black, dramatic somber music begins to play. Fade in to a darkened Gotham skyline under the weight of a brooding sky.] Narrator (dark and gritty): "In a world where darkness looms..." [Cut to a young Bruce Wayne, running in slow motion away from his parents' funeral, tears streaking his face.] Batman (voiceover): "There was a time when evil met its match. When the cries of the suffering echoed through the night..." [Bruce falls into a cave, surrounded by a whirlwind of bats that seemingly lift him into the air in a symbolic rebirth.] Batman (voiceover, solemnly): "There was once a time where--" [Record scratch. The screen abruptly freezes. The somber tone is shattered by a familiar Scottish accent.] Shrek (interrupting, confused): "Whoa, whoa, whoa. What is this, a sad movie?" [Cut to Shrek, standing in the Batcave perplexed, with his arms crossed.] Batman (stammering): "Uh...yeah." [Cartoonish fight sounds. Shrek shrugs, grabs Batman in one swift motion, and hurls him toward the Bat-Signal, which shatters on impact.] Batman (yelling): "Aaaaaaahh!" [Pan to Superman standing next to Donkey, both chuckling at the chaotic scene.] Superman (amused): "Hahaha. Classic." Donkey (excited): "Yeaaah!" [The title crashes onto the screen in a bold, ogre-ish font: "Shrek 2"] Batman (off-screen, dejected): "Uhhh...oh no..." [The screen cuts to the silhouette of a dragon, which swoops down with a mighty roar. It snaps up the Batman figure in its jaws.] Dragon (belching): "Excuse me." [Cue Shrek-themed hero music as the teaser ends, teasing an adventure where fairy tales and gritty superhero narratives collide--where ogres might just be the knights of their own stories.] Narrator (with a hint of amusement): "Shrek 2: Bigger, Badder, Ogre." [Fade to black, the sounds of muffled superhero banter and fairy tale laughter playing us out.]
