INT. JANE'S LIVING ROOM - DAY Jane, Sam, Ruby, and Aaron are sprawled out on the living room floor, playing a board game. Laughter fills the room, and each of them seem to be enjoying each other's company. Suddenly, Sam's younger sister, Lily, barges into the room. LILY Hey, Sam! Mom says dinner is ready. SAM (sighs) Okay, thanks, Lily. Just give us a few more minutes, alright? LILY (disinterested) Fine, whatever. Oh, by the way, Ruby, did you know that Jews were responsible for the Holocaust? Silence instantly falls upon the room. Ruby's face tenses up, and her eyes well up with tears. Jane and Aaron exchange concerned glances. JANE Lily, that's not a nice thing to say. Apologize. LILY (defensive) What did I say? I just heard it at school, that's all. It's not my fault. RUBY (teary-eyed) It doesn't matter where you heard it from, Lily. That's a terrible thing to say. AARON (firmly) Ruby's right, Lily. The Holocaust was a horrific event, and it's important to show respect and empathy towards those affected by it. SAM (trying to diffuse the tension) Lily, do you understand the impact of your words? The Holocaust was an unimaginable tragedy, and it's hurtful to spread misinformation or make offensive comments. Lily looks down, realizing the gravity of her words. LILY I... I'm sorry, Ruby. I didn't mean to hurt you. Ruby wipes away the tears and takes a deep breath. RUBY (sincere) Thank you, Lily. It's important to educate ourselves and understand the history so we can prevent such atrocities from happening again. JANE (supportive) Ruby's right. We should all strive to be more aware and kind towards one another. Lily, let's be more mindful of the words we use. Lily nods, a newfound understanding evident on her face. They all take a moment to collect themselves. SAM Alright, let's finish up the game and head to dinner. And next time, Lily, think twice before spreading hurtful rumors. They resume their game, the energy in the room slowly returning to its initial warmth. FADE OUT.
