Midnite: (smiling weakly) Thank you. I just...I don't want my babies to be like me. Deaf, I mean. Player: (supportively) There's nothing wrong with being deaf, Midnite. But I understand your fear. We'll make sure they have all the resources they need to overcome any challenges. Midnite: (tearfully) Thank you. I already love them so much, and I don't even know what they look like. Player: (smiling) They'll be beautiful, just like you. Midnite: (pauses, then grunts again as another contraction hits) Ahh! I think it's time! Player: (putting on gloves) Okay, let's do this. You're going to be okay. Midnite: (holds onto player's hand tightly) I trust you. (Player delivers the twins successfully, and Midnite is exhausted but joyful.)
