Gone are the show icons at the top of the front page, and instead we have...spinning Pac-Man icons? 4kidstvol7.png 4kidstv2vl1.png The CW4Kids and 4Kids TV symbols alternate about once every second. It probably won't be long before the CW4Kids.com redirects to 4Kids.tv. I assume they'll replace the spinning Pac-Mans with new show icons fairly soon, too. EDIT: Okay, the show icons have been uploaded, and they're pretty much the same as before, except now there's one for Kirby. I guess they'll add Kirby episodes to the "Watch" section eventually. I don't think they really mean the first "airing" of CW4Kids. I'd love to have some new bumps though. I wonder if they'll gradually shift from the pseudo-WB look they have going on to turn it into something similar to 4KidsTV, keep the look they have now, or have a sort of "combo" of the two. It's not just about genre but the storytelling vibe. Ben 10 had action, humor, and a relatable protagonist. Chaotic and YGO GX are cool, don't get me wrong, but they lean heavily into the card game aspect, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. **GXChampion** GXChampion Duel Master in Training Joined Aug 14, 2006 Messages 1,975 Location The Duel Academy Aug 5, 2008 --- I understand where Ben10Defender is coming from. It's a significant shift from a narrative and character-driven show like Ben 10 to more strategy and game-focused shows. For YGO GX fans, it's a direct hit, but transitioning fans might find it harder to connect with the themes and characters. **ChaoticChampion** ChaoticChampion Perim Explorer Joined Jul 22, 2007 Messages 2,091 Location Chaotic Realm Aug 5, 2008 --- True, the transition has been a bit polarizing. Speaking as a Chaotic fan, I love the strategic depth and the unique creatures. However, I can see how Ben 10 fans might miss the continuity and character development they were used to. It's a different storytelling experience altogether. **ToonUnity** ToonUnity Bringing Fans Together Joined Jan 15, 2005 Messages 4,550 Location Toon Metropolis Aug 5, 2008 --- What we're seeing is a fascinating aspect of fandom. Shows like Johnny Test and Tom and Jerry Tales, while beloved, cater to a wide audience with their comedy and antics, making the transition to Gogoriki smoother. Ben 10 introduced a mix of humor, action, and character-driven plots that created a strong bond with its viewers, making it harder for these fans to find the same attachment in card-based game shows. It highlights how diverse our cartoon preferences can be and how certain genres resonate differently with each viewer.

Not saying they don't deserve their spots, but considering the shift towards more action-oriented and card game shows, it's intriguing they remain. Thoughts? **ToonSavvy101** ToonSavvy101 Saturday Morning Scholar Joined Mar 3, 2006 Messages 5,981 Location Toon Town Hall Sep 10, 2008 --- That's a good question, AnimationAnalyst. One theory could be that W&D and MN offer a unique blend that the network is aiming to maintain - variety. W&D provides a wholesome, educational yet entertaining experience for a younger audience, which is invaluable. As for MN, it bridges the gap with a fantasy adventure world that isn't as niche as card game shows but still appeals to fans of mystical and strategic themes. **FanTheoryGuy** FanTheoryGuy Pop Culture Philosopher Joined Aug 18, 2005 Messages 3,467 Location Theoryville Sep 10, 2008 --- To add to ToonSavvy101's point, retaining W&D and MN could also be a strategic move to keep a diverse audience. While action and card games draw in one crowd, the imaginative and problem-solving stories from shows like W&D and MN cater to both younger viewers and those looking for less intense content. This balanced approach could help maintain broader appeal. **CartoonDynamo** CartoonDynamo Animation Aficionado Joined Jan 22, 2007 Messages 6,330 Location Dynamic Discussions Sep 10, 2008 --- Absolutely, FanTheoryGuy and ToonSavvy101. Diversity in programming is key, especially for a block that's viewed by a wide array of ages and interests. Shows like W&D and MN also have an element of 'edutainment' without being overt, making them an easy fit for parents looking for content that's not just entertaining but also enriching for their kids. **RetroToonFan** RetroToonFan Nostalgic Animation Lover Joined Jul 5, 2002 Messages 9,025 Location Memory Lane Sep 10, 2008 --- You guys bring up valid points about variety and audience. Let's not forget the possible contractual and scheduling agreements that might be in place. Channels often make long-term deals with show distributors, and it's possible W&D and MN have contracts that ensure their stay for a set period. Plus, finding suitable replacements that fit the desired programming mix is no small feat. **NextGenToonster** NextGenToonster Future of Animation Fan Joined May 11, 2008 Messages 1,254 Location Looking Ahead Sep 10, 2008 --- All excellent insights! Another angle could be the educational value these shows provide, positioning the network favorably in terms of offering content that's not just purely entertainment-based but also carries educational undertones, crucial for appealing to parents and educators. In an era where content is king, having multifaceted shows like W&D and MN gives the network an edge in the competitive world of children's programming.
