Jane: "What's wrong, Ruby? You seem different." Ruby: "I've been keeping something from you, Jane. Something big." Jane: "What is it?" Ruby: "I'm a mermaid." Jane: "What? You're kidding me, right?" Ruby: "No, I'm serious. I've been hiding it from everyone for years, but I couldn't keep it a secret anymore. And...I'm pregnant." Jane: "Pregnant?! How is that possible?" Ruby: "I fell in love with a human boy and...well, we didn't think about the consequences." Jane: "Wow...I don't even know what to say. I mean, I have so many questions. Is the baby going to be a mermaid or a human?" Ruby: "We don't know yet. It's a risky pregnancy, and we're not sure if the baby will survive." Jane: "I'm so sorry, Ruby.
