INT. JANE'S LIVING ROOM - DAY Jane, a quirky, 16-year-old girl with wild curly hair, is sitting on the couch with her 12-year-old best friend and neighbor, Molly-Rose Ling. Jane's 14-year-old brother, Aaron Ling, is sprawled out on the floor, playing a video game. Jane glances at Molly-Rose, who looks unusually pale. Suddenly, Molly-Rose doubles over and vomits into a nearby trash can. Jane jumps up, concerned. JANE (putting a hand on Molly-Rose's back) Whoa, Molly-Rose! Are you okay? MOLLY-ROSE (weakly) I...I don't know. My stomach suddenly feels awful. Aaron pauses his video game and rushes over, grimacing as he catches a whiff of the vomit. AARON (disgusted) Ugh, Molly-Rose! What did you eat? MOLLY-ROSE (defensively) I don't know! I haven't eaten anything weird today! JANE (calmly) Alright, let's not panic. Molly-Rose, do you have any other symptoms? Molly-Rose wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, looking queasy. MOLLY-ROSE (slightly shaky) My head hurts a little, and my throat feels weird too. Aaron grabs a water bottle from the coffee table and hands it to Molly-Rose. AARON Here, drink some water. It might help. Molly-Rose takes a sip of water, trying to soothe her parched throat. JANE (to Aaron) Maybe she has a stomach bug. Molly-Rose, did anyone at school seem sick? MOLLY-ROSE (remembering) Actually, one of my classmates went home sick yesterday. She was coughing a lot. AARON (sighing) Great, it's probably contagious then. Jane rummages through a drawer, pulling out a thermometer and handing it to Molly-Rose. JANE We should check your temperature just to be safe. Molly-Rose takes her temperature while Jane searches on her phone for possible causes of Molly-Rose's symptoms. MOLLY-ROSE (in disbelief) It's 101 degrees Fahrenheit! But I can't have a fever! JANE (worried) Well, Molly-Rose, it seems like you're definitely sick. We should call your parents and let them know. MOLLY-ROSE (frowning) But I was really excited about our sleepover tonight, Jane. AARON (mockingly) Sleepover? With you two giggling all night? Sounds like a nightmare... Jane rolls her eyes at Aaron, then looks sympathetically at Molly-Rose. JANE Don't worry, Molly-Rose, we can reschedule the sleepover for when you're feeling better. Right, Aaron? AARON (reluctantly) Fine, fine. But only if she stops throwing up. I don't want my room smelling like vomit. They all share a laugh, trying to lighten the mood as Molly-Rose puts a hand on her grumbling stomach. FADE OUT.
