[Player] cautiously enters Vanessa's room. The cave spider is glaring angrily at the wall, her belly noticeably rounder. [Player]: Vanessa, are you okay? Vanessa: [snaps] What do you want? [Player]: I just wanted to check on you. You seemed pretty shaken up after the Chameleos attack. Vanessa: [gruffly] I'm fine. Don't worry about me. [Player]: Okay, but...is there anything else going on? Your belly looks...different. Vanessa's eyes widen in surprise, and then narrow suspiciously. Vanessa: What do you mean different? [Player]: It just looks a little bigger. Vanessa: [defensive] So what? That's none of your business. [Player]: I know, I'm sorry. I just want to help if I can. Vanessa: [sighs] ...It's just...I don't know what's happening. My belly started growing right after you saved me from that Chameleos. But it's not like I've eaten anything unusual. And I haven't even seen another spider in weeks. [Player]: That is strange. Have you talked to anyone else about it? Vanessa shakes her head, looking slightly ashamed. Vanessa: No. I don't really have any friends here. And...[pauses]...I didn't want to worry my family. [Player]: I understand. But if it's bothering you, maybe we can try to figure out what's going on together? Vanessa looks at [player], and after a moment nods reluctantly. Vanessa: Okay. I appreciate the offer. [Player]: Great. We'll start by doing some research. Maybe we can find something in the ancient texts that will help us. Vanessa: [smiles slightly] Alright. I'll help however I can. [End of scene]
