INT. JANE'S LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON Jane, Sam, Aaron, and Molly-Rose are sitting on the couch, chatting and laughing. JANE Guys, guess what? I met someone new at school today! AARON (excited) Oh really? Who is it? JANE Her name is Lux. She's super cool, and I think we're gonna be great friends. SAM (sincerely) That's awesome, Jane! Tell us more about her. JANE Well, Lux has single-sided deafness, so she can't hear out of her left ear. And she's also selectively mute, which means she chooses not to speak most of the time. She's also autistic, but that doesn't change anything for me. She's an amazing artist, and we connected instantly. AARON Wow, that's really interesting! It's great that you're open to being friends with different people, Jane. MOLLY-ROSE (nods) Yeah, I've heard about kids like Lux in my music class. It can be tough sometimes, but they're just like us once you get to know them. SAM (curious) So, how do you communicate if she's selectively mute? JANE (smiling) That's the best part. Lux uses different forms of communication, like sign language, writing on a notepad, or even texting. We've been exchanging notes all day. It's made me realize how much more there is to communication than just talking. AARON That's so cool! It sounds like you two are finding your own unique way to connect with each other. JANE Exactly, Aaron. It's all about understanding and accepting each other's differences. We live in a world where everyone's unique in their own way, and Lux reminded me of that. MOLLY-ROSE (thoughtfully) You're right, Jane. Sometimes we forget to look beyond what's on the surface, and miss out on awesome friendships. SAM Well, I can't wait to meet Lux someday. She sounds like an incredible person. JANE I'm sure you'll love her, Sam. She's just as amazing as all of you. They all smile at each other, appreciating the diverse friendships they share. FADE OUT.
