Jane: (running up to Ruby) Oh my god, Ruby! I just saw you in the water and...what's happened to you? Ruby: (hiding her belly with her arms) Jane, just hear me out, please? Jane: What's wrong with you, Ruby? You look like...you've put on weight and you're hiding something! Ruby: Yeah, actually, that's it. I'm pregnant. Jane: (taken aback) What?! When did this happen? And who's the father? Ruby: (smiling shyly) His name is Jim. He's also a mermaid. Jane: Wait, wait, wait...back up...you're...a mermaid? Ruby: Yeah, I am. I thought you already knew that. (chuckles) Jane: No, no...I didn't! (laughs nervously) Oh my god, Ruby...I don't know what to say. Ruby: It's okay, Jane. I know this is a lot to take in. Jane: It really is! But, wow...I can't believe it. I mean, I always knew there was something special about you. Ruby: (grinning) Special in a good way, I hope? Jane: (laughs) Yeah, of course. I just didn't expect this...mermaid thing. Ruby: (sighing) Yeah, it's not easy keeping this a secret from everyone. Especially now that I'm pregnant...I feel like I'm drowning in all this. Jane: (putting a hand on Ruby's shoulder) Hey, it's gonna be okay. We'll figure it out together. Ruby: (smiling) Thanks, Jane. You really are the best friend a mermaid could ask for. Jane: (laughs) And you're the friend who can always make a splash. (They both laugh) Ruby: Speaking of making a splash...wanna come swimming with me? I could use a little workout. Jane: (smiling) Sure, why not? It's not like I have any other mermaid friends to hang out with. (They both laugh and run into the water)
