Write dialogue where Becker (this Becker is a teenage girl!) purposely breaks her DVDs

Scene: Becker's room. The walls are adorned with posters of classic films and bands. On the floor, a heap of DVDs lies scattered. Becker: (sighs deeply, picking up a DVD) "The Breakfast Club," huh? Once my favorite... (She holds it up, staring at the disc.) Becker's Mom: (from the doorway) Becker! What on Earth are you doing? Becker: (turns, holding the DVD) Just taking control of my life, Mom. (She bends the disc, snapping it in half.) Becker's Mom: (shocked) Becker! Those are your movies, your collection! Becker: (tossing the broken pieces aside) They're just things, Mom. Things I'm tied to. Memories I need to break from. Becker's Mom: But, why? You loved those movies. You could have sold them if you didn't want them anymore. Becker: (picks up another DVD, "Clueless") It's not about the money, Mom. It's about letting go. (She breaks the next DVD deliberately.) Becker's Mom: (growing upset) Becker, this isn't you. Why are you destroying what you love? Becker: (looks at her with a resolved expression) Maybe I never really loved them. Maybe they just filled a void. A distraction from what I really want to do with my life. Becker's Mom: (kneels beside her) Tell me, what is it that you want, sweetheart? Becker: (slows down, voice softens) I... I want to create, not just consume. I want to make my own films, not just watch others'. Becker's Mom: (understanding) Oh, Becker. You can do that without destroying these. They're part of what shaped you. Becker: (nods slowly, sets down another DVD without breaking it) Maybe... But I need to do this. To make space for what's new. The me that can create. Becker's Mom: (softly, with concern) But don't erase who you were. That girl is part of the you that is and will be. Becker: (glances at the unbroken DVD in her hands, contemplating) I guess... I guess I just need to feel like I'm making a definitive change. Becker's Mom: (puts an arm around her) Change can be good, and you don't have to destroy the past to move towards the future. Becker: (leans into her mom, a slight smile) Yeah, you're probably right. Maybe I'll keep a few... (She looks over the remaining DVDs thoughtfully.) Becker's Mom: (smiling back) That's my girl. Keep the memories, make new ones, and chase your dreams. Always. Becker: (looking determined) I will, Mom. Starting now. I just needed to break away from the old me, in a way. Becker's Mom: (stands, picking up a DVD case) How about we find a new way to recycle these? Perhaps donate them? Becker: (grins) Yeah, that sounds great. Let's give them a second life. And while we're at it, maybe it's time I started writing my own script. Becker's Mom: (excitedly) I'd love to see that. Let's do it together. Becker: (full of new resolve) I'd like that, Mom. Thanks. (They start gathering the unbroken DVDs, planning out what to do with them, the broken pieces serve as a reminder of Becker's decision to move on from passive consumption to active creation.)
