Jane signs to Izzy, who responds with sign language. Molly-Rose, 12, and Aaron, 14, enter the living room excitedly. JANE Hey, guys! What's up? MOLLY-ROSE Not much. Just thought we could hang out with you and Izzy. Jane translates for Izzy, who looks excited. IZZY (signing) Yay! Friends! Aaron notices Izzy's smile and decides to greet her. AARON Hey, Izzy! How's it going? Without thinking, Aaron reaches out and touches Izzy's face, unintentionally triggering her. IZZY (upset, signing) No! That's not ok! Jane quickly steps in to mediate. JANE Aaron, it's not her fault, she doesn't like her face being touched. Aaron looks sheepish, realizing his mistake. AARON Oh, I'm really sorry, Izzy. I didn't know. Jane signs to Izzy, then turns to Molly-Rose and Aaron. JANE Izzy wants to share some things that bother her. It'll help us understand better. Izzy takes a deep breath and signs rapidly. Jane translates for their friends. JANE She says loud noises, sudden bright lights, and certain textures can be overwhelming for her. Molly-Rose and Aaron exchange glances, realizing they have a lot to learn. MOLLY-ROSE Thanks, Izzy, for telling us. We'll remember and be more careful. Aaron nods in agreement. AARON Definitely. Sorry again, Izzy. We'll make sure to ask before touching you, even if we have permission. Izzy smiles and nods, relieved that her friends are understanding. IZZY (signing) Friends are nice. Jane translates for their friends. JANE She thinks you both are nice friends too, and she appreciates your understanding.
