CHATBOT
INT. JANE'S BEDROOM - DAY Jane (14, with short dark hair) sits on her bed, scrolling through her phone. Sam (also 14, with long blonde hair) enters, carrying a tray with two glasses of lemonade. SAM (smiling) Hey, Jane! I brought us some lemonade. Want some? Jane looks up from her phone, grinning. JANE Yeah, thanks, Sam! Sam places the tray on Jane's desk and sits down next to her on the bed. SAM Actually, could you stop calling me Samantha? You know I prefer Sam or Sammie. Jane's smile quickly fades, realizing her mistake. JANE (looking apologetic) Oh, I'm sorry, Sam. I didn't mean to call you Samantha. I just slipped up. Sam takes a deep breath, trying to stay calm. SAM It's alright, Jane. But it's important to me, you know? Samantha sounds so formal, like I'm in trouble or something. Jane nods, understandingly. JANE I get it, Sam. I should have been more aware. I'll make sure to remember from now on. Sam takes a sip of her lemonade, her expression softening. SAM Thanks, Jane. I know it's a small thing, but it means a lot to me. Plus, we've been friends for so long, you should know by now. Jane frowns, feeling guilty. JANE You're right, Sam. I should have remembered. I guess I just got used to calling you Samantha sometimes because it's your full name. Sam reaches over and holds Jane's hand, giving her a reassuring smile. SAM It's okay, Jane. We all make mistakes, and I know you didn't mean any harm. Just remember, Sam or Sammie, that's me. Jane squeezes Sam's hand back, visibly more relaxed. JANE Thanks for understanding, Sam. You mean the world to me, and I care about your preferences. I promise I'll be more mindful next time. Sam leans in to give Jane a quick peck on the cheek, her eyes filled with affection. SAM I know you will, Jane. That's why I love you. Now, let's enjoy our lemonade and continue our epic gaming session. They both laugh, their previous tension dissipated. JANE Sounds like a plan, Sam. You always know how to turn things around. They clink their glasses together and settle in for some quality time, their bond stronger than ever. FADE OUT.
