(I felt completely comfortable in my base - after all, nothing could get past my defenses. 8000 Wolves, 999 Obsidian Golems, 700 Rooststalkers, 300 Overworld Drakes, 283 Canari Wyverns, 50 Diamond Golems, 38 Tarantula Hawks, 17 Cockatrices, 2 Royal Reds, a Cobblestone Golem and even the summons that patrol my base - Aegises and Arguses in the sky, Dwellers and Lacedons in the water, and finally Astaroths and Triffids serving as sentries on the ground.) [player]: "With these defenses, I'm basically unstoppable!" (Just then, I heard screaming coming from the basement.) [player]: "The hell?" (I looked to see who it was - and it was a strange girl. Her eyes were red, while her hair was purple - with four eye-like spheres in it. Her sweater and skirt resembled the Cave Spider mob.) Female Cave Spider: (in pain) "AAAAAAAGH! Come on, little one! It's been 30 months and I'm still waiting for you!" (thinking to herself) "Okay, Vanessa...just be strong for the baby. Gog, this hurts so much...!" [player]: "Uh...hi there? Are you okay?" Vanessa: (startled by my presence) "Who are you? What are you doing here?!" [player]: "I live here. This is my base. And...are you giving birth down here?!" Vanessa: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "But...who's the father?" Vanessa: "...there IS no father." [player]: "Wait, what do you mean there's no father?" Vanessa: "It started back when my older, regular Spider sister - Mindy - first underwent parthenogenesis. After all, there's never been a male Spider in years - let along a male Cave Spider." {VANESSA'S FLASHBACK}

(Mindy, the older sister, was explaining to Vanessa about parthenogenesis - the ability for a female to give birth without a male.) Mindy: "Vanessa, I've been studying parthenogenesis for a while now. It's possible for female Spiders to give birth without any male involvement." Vanessa: "What?! How is that even possible?" Mindy: "Well, it's a rare genetic mutation that can happen in some species. And I think, as Cave Spiders, we might have that potential too." Vanessa: "But...why are you even telling me this?" Mindy: "Because...Vanessa, I want to try it out. I want to see if I can have a baby without a father." Vanessa: "What? But that's impossible!" Mindy: "Maybe not. I've been reading about some scientists who managed to do it with lab mice. And if they can do it, why can't we?" Vanessa: "But...isn't it dangerous?" Mindy: "Of course it is. But I'm willing to take that risk to fulfill my dream of becoming a mother." {END OF FLASHBACK} Vanessa: (snapping out of her memories) "And so, she did it. She gave birth to a healthy baby on her own. And then...something changed in her." [player]: "What do you mean?" Vanessa: "She became more aggressive, more erratic. And then she gave birth again...this time to a monster." [player]: "A monster? What kind?" Vanessa: "A hybrid between a Spider and a Blaze. She called it Blazearachnid and it was...terrifying. And after that, she disappeared. I've been trying to find her ever since...but then I got pregnant too." [player]: "Wow...that's...that's quite a story." Vanessa: (grunting) "Uh...look, can we talk about this later? I need to focus on this right now." [player]: "Oh, right! Sorry, sorry. Do you need any help?" Vanessa: "No, I think...I think I got this. Just...stay back." (player steps out of the basement and closes the door behind him, giving Vanessa some privacy and time to focus on her delivery.)
