"Greetings, young one," she said in a voice that sounded like a cross between a bird's chirp and a woman's song. Patrick was both excited and scared at the same time. "Who are you?" He asked, trying to sound brave. "I am a harpy," the creature said proudly, spreading her wings and hovering a few inches above the sand. "I am a hunter and a predator, feared by many in these waters." Patrick shivered at the mention of the word "predator," but he was also fascinated by the harpy's beauty and grace. "What do you do?" He asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. "I hunt for food and for sport," the harpy said, her talons flexing as she spread her wings wide. "Yeah," Patrick said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Don't you ever wish you had someone to talk to or play with?" The harpy looked thoughtful for a moment, and for the first time, Patrick saw a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I suppose I have never really thought about it that way," she said softly. "I have always been alone, and I have grown used to it." Patrick felt a pang of sympathy for the harpy, and he knew deep down that he didn't want to be alone either. "I could be your friend," he said, his voice filled with hope. The harpy looked down at Patrick with a mixture of surprise and amusement. "You?" She said, her voice tinged with laughter. "What use could I possibly have for a puny little starfish like you?" Patrick didn't let the harpy's teasing get him down. He knew that he had a big heart...
