Luis takes a deep breath, looking up at the sky. "I just...sometimes I forget what it's like to have someone to talk to, you know? Especially someone who's been through everything we have." He looks over at Clementine, his eyes softening. "I guess I just wanted to make sure you were doing okay." Clementine nods, staring into the flames. "Yeah...I'm doing fine, all things considered. It's been a lot, but we've made it this far." She looks over at Luis, trying to gauge his reaction. "And what about you? How are you holding up?" Luis chuckles softly, running a hand through his hair. "Well, let's see...I'm in a zombie apocalypse, half of my friends are dead, and I have no idea what the future holds. So I'd say I'm doing pretty poorly." He pauses, the humor fading from his voice. "But really, I'm just trying to keep my head above water. Some days are better than others." Clementine nods, understanding all too well. "Yeah, I know what you mean. But we have each other, for what it's worth." Luis smiles at her, the warmth of the fire casting flickering shadows across his face. "Yeah, I'm grateful for that. And for the fact that our group managed to find a place like this to call home, even if it's just temporary." Clementine smiles back at him, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. "Yeah, me too. For now, at least, we can pretend everything's normal for a little while." The two of them sit in silence for a few moments, the only sounds the crackling of the fire and the soft chirping of crickets in the distance. It's a moment of peace in an otherwise chaotic world, and for a little while, they're content to just be in each other's company.

Clementine nods, "Yeah, it's been rough. But I'm okay, I think." She says, sounding a little unsure of herself. Her eyes turn back to the fire, watching the flames for a moment before looking back at Luis. Luis gives a small nod, "That's good to hear. I know things are going to keep being tough, but I believe we can get through it." He says, trying to offer her a little bit of hope. Clementine gives a small smile at his words, "Thanks Luis, I appreciate it." She says, her tone sounding a little more confident now. She looks back at the fire, the warmth of it spreading over her skin, "It's nice to have someone to talk to." She adds, her voice soft. Luis nods, "I know what you mean. We all need someone to talk to from time to time." He says, his own voice sounding a little nostalgic. The two sit in silence for a moment, watching the fire slowly die down. But the mood between them is still warm and soft. Luis looks down at his hands, "You know, back when I was your age I never thought I'd be sitting by a fire with a kid like you." He says a little gruffly. Clementine looks up at him, a touch of confusion in her eyes, "What do you mean?" She asks. Luis smirks, "Well, when I was your age I was running around with a gang and stealing cars." He admits, his tone a little sheepish. "But you, you're different. I can tell you've got a good head on your shoulders." He says, looking at her with a hint of admiration. Clementine blushes a little at his words, feeling flattered but also a little embarrassed, "Thanks Luis. I try my best." She says, giving him a small smile.

CHATBOT: Clementine turns her gaze towards Luis without a word, her expression giving nothing away. After a moment, she nods once in acquiescence and continues to quietly examine the dancing flames in front of her. I reach into my pocket and produce a small, battered pack of cigarettes, offering it to her. "Don't worry, they're menthols. Helped me relax after a tough day." Clementine declines the offer with a shake of her head, her eyes still focused on the fire. "I don't smoke," she replies simply. I grunt softly in response and light up the cigarette for myself, taking a long drag before exhaling a cloud of smoke. "Suit yourself. So, what's on your mind?" Clementine hesitates for a moment before speaking. "I'm...not really sure. Just a lot of things, I guess." I nod understandingly, taking another drag on my cigarette. "Yeah, I hear you. This whole situation is a lot to take in, even for those of us who have been through it all before." Clementine nods in agreement, her eyes still fixed on the fire. "I miss Lee," she whispers, almost too softly for me to hear. I feel a pang of sympathy for the girl sitting beside me, and I place a hand reassuringly on her shoulder. "I know, kiddo. We all do. But you've got people who care about you, right here, right now. You're not alone." Clementine nods again, but says nothing more, her thoughts still occupying her mind. We sit in companionable silence for a few minutes longer, each lost in our own thoughts. As I finish the last of my cigarette and extinguish it in the dirt, I stand up and offer Clementine a hand up. "Come on, kiddo. Get some rest. Tomorrow's a new day, and we've all got work to do." Clementine takes my hand and stands up, but before she heads back to her room, she turns to me and offers a small smile. "Thanks for talking with me, Luis. It helped." I grin back at her. "Anytime, kiddo. That's what friends are for."

"I've been surviving on my own for a while now. I lost everyone I cared about," she says quietly, her voice tinged with sadness. Luis nods sympathetically. "I'm sorry to hear that. It's tough out here. But you seem like a tough survivor. You've made it this far," he says, trying to offer her some comfort. Clementine smiles faintly and puts her knife back in its sheath. "Yeah, I guess that's true. But it's not just about surviving anymore. Now we have to rebuild and make a new home," she says, sounding determined. Luis nods in agreement. "That's right. We have to keep going, no matter how tough it gets. And we have each other to rely on," he says, gesturing to the other survivors sleeping in their rooms. Clementine looks around at the sleeping faces and sighs. "Yeah, you're right. We're all in this together. We can do this," she says with a sense of determination, looking back at Luis.

"I mean, I used to play the piano a little bit, but I always just practiced whatever sheet music I had. I didn't really have a favorite." She pauses for a moment, thinking about the past. "There was this one time when AJ and I found an old guitar in an abandoned gas station and I tried to play 'House of the Rising Sun.' I wasn't very good, though," she chuckles softly.

She shifts slightly on the log she's sitting on and pulls her knees up to her chest, resting her arms on top of them. "What do you want to talk about?" she asks, her voice low and calm. About...about Lee, and Kenny, and...everyone else we've lost along the way." She looks down at her hands, which are clasped together tightly in her lap. "It...it feels like it never ends," she continues quietly. "Like...like no matter what we do, there's always gonna be more...more pain, more loss. And I don't know if I can keep doing this." Luis listens quietly, seeming to understand. After a moment, he speaks softly. "Clem, I know it's hard. But...but you're one of the strongest people I've ever met. And...and I believe in you. I know you can get through this." Clementine looks up at him, her expression grateful. "Thanks," she says softly. "I...I need to hear that sometimes." Luis nods, smiling slightly. "Anytime, kiddo. Anytime."

CHATBOT: Clementine looks up at Luis and nods, motioning for him to sit closer to the fire. She scoots over a bit to make room for him and resumes staring into the flames. "It's quiet tonight," she says softly, "almost too quiet." She reaches for a nearby stick and starts drawing patterns in the dirt with it.

Her responses are often short and to-the-point, but she seems genuinely interested in hearing what I have to say. Every now and then, she glances up at the stars or the buildings around them, her mind clearly still on the dangers that lurk outside the school. But overall, she seems more at ease than she has been in weeks. Perhaps it's the quiet companionship of the fire, or the chance to talk to someone who understands what it's like to survive in this world. Whatever the reason, she seems content to sit and chat with me for as long as I want to talk.

CHATBOT: "Yeah," Clementine agrees, nodding her head tiredly. She lets out a long exhale, blinking wearily as she takes in her surroundings. "It's been a long day." She leans forward slightly, absently prodding at the logs in the fire with a long stick. Sparks fly up, illuminating her face in the darkness. "Do you ever wonder if there's any point to all of this?" she asks, her voice low and thoughtful. "I mean, we're just surviving day by day, but for what? To what end?"

CHATBOT: Clementine shakes her head, her expression solemn. "No, it's not that," she says quietly. "I just...sometimes I feel like we're just going through the motions, you know? Trying to stay alive without really knowing what we're fighting for." She looks back up at Luis, her eyes full of a quiet determination. "But you're right. People have died to protect me. And I owe it to them to keep going, to keep fighting. Even if I don't always know why."

And, uh... you've got AJ, right?" She smiles a little at the mention of AJ, her eyes flicking up to meet mine briefly before darting away again. "Yeah, I do." There's a moment of comfortable silence between us, broken only by the crackling of the fire. I watch as Clementine stares off into the darkness, lost in thought. Finally, she speaks up again, her voice soft. "I miss Lee. He was... he was like a dad to me." My heart aches a little at the mention of Lee. I never knew the guy, but I can tell how much he meant to Clementine. "I'm sorry for your loss, Clem," I say gently. Clementine shrugs a little, still staring off into the darkness. "It's okay. I just... I wish he was here, you know? To help us figure all this out." I reach out and give her hand a reassuring squeeze. "We'll figure it out on our own. We've come this far, right? And we've got each other." Clementine nods slowly, and for a moment, we just sit there in silence, enjoying each other's company. I don't know what the future holds, but for now, it feels nice to have someone to talk to.
