In the past, Scooby and Shaggy are pacing the waiting room at St. Bernard's Memorial Hospital, as Ruby is being rolled though. She tells them both not to worry. Shaggy says they won't, but as she enters the delivery room, they both faint. As the newborn baby cries, a nurse fans Shaggy and Scooby awake telling them it's a boy, which elates them both. They looked through the windowed doors after hearing a commotion. The doctor delivering the baby comments that he's a "scrappy little tyke", inspiring Ruby to name him Scrappy.
