Orion's journey into becoming Captain Universe began in earnest in 1986, when, at the age of 18, he witnessed a meteor shower that was not merely a meteor shower but a shower of cosmic energy, remnants of a destroyed planet that had been infused with the essence of the living universe. Unbeknownst to him, one of the cosmic fragments landed nearby and infused him with the spark of the Enigma Force, a universal power that sought a champion to wield its might. For years, Orion's powers lay dormant, manifesting only in subtle ways he couldn't understand, such as intuition that bordered on precognition and strength that seemed to surge in times of great need. It wasn't until 1990, during a trip to the Grand Canyon with friends that Orion's true potential was unlocked. They were attacked by a group of alien marauders, remnants of a warlike civilization seeking to conquer new worlds. In the direst moment, the Enigma Force within Orion activated, transforming him into the cosmic-powered hero, Captain Universe. Captain Universe, under Orion's mantle, became a protector of Earth and the cosmos. With a deep connection to the fabric of the universe, he fought not only earthbound threats but cosmic ones, becoming a beacon of hope and justice across galaxies. His most notable achievements included reforming a rogue faction of the Skrulls, preventing a reality collapse during the Quantum Crisis of 2002, and forging a peace treaty between conflicting interdimensional entities in 2010.
