The brace has a window in the crotch and buttocks area for hygienic purposes. While Patricia does not suffer from incontinence, she uses the window to put on and remove adult diapers for convenience's sake, since bathroom access can be problematic with her limited mobility. At first, the brace is supposed to be worn continuously, with removal allowed only in case of emergency or for a short time period, for example, during bathing. Afterwards, the time span spent in the brace can be lowered, depending on the treatment progress.
