The days were sweltering and the nights subzero, but the outlaws and fugitives that now called this forsaken planet home had no choice but to adapt or die. They were the forgotten, the unwanted, the waifs of a universe cast aside like ruined machinery. A fortress of jagged iron loomed above the valley. It was more than a home for the hundreds of smugglers, mercenaries and ex-convicts seeking refuge on this desolate planet; it was their domain, their kingdom. The leader of this ramshackle group stood tall in the center of the courtyard, illuminated by dim fluorescent lights. His name was Dulkan, a fearsome mercenary who, desperate for escape, had clawed his way out of a dozen prisons, only to find himself trapped by his own ambition. Dulkan surveyed his motley crew. He rubbed his rough, scarred hands together, barely able to contain his excitement. "Your attention!" he bellowed with a voice that could silence a wolf. "Word has it that he's here - the scourge of the Ki'rra. The bounty on his head is enough to make millionaires of us all.
