The Longwu Emperor, impressed by Fukumatsu's skill and strategy and his feats in Korea, mistakes Fukumatsu for a Ming loyalist and gives him the imperial surname of Zhu/Chu, along with the first name Chenggong and the title of Koxinga ("Lord of the Imperial Surname"). Now highly placed in the power structure of the rump Ming dynasty, Fukumatsu, now known as Zhu Chenggong/Koxinga to his supposed comrades in the Chinese resistance forces fighting against the Qing Empire, uses his new position of power to lead the Ming army to a series of 'victories' that lead to them losing more than they gain in the end, while establishing his credentials as a master strategist and general among the Ming forces.
