They dug into her flesh with a uniformly malicious cruelty, and the pressure and pain was delicious - almost addictive. Again, the contradictory impulse surged to the surface: flee or submit, fear or embrace. With a fierce, stubborn resolve, Kara fixed her gaze on the latter, allowing her body's struggles against the bonds to die away - knowing instinctively that, in this particular game, defeat was the truest and sweetest victory of all.
