It was not Eden, but it was shelter. With no other choice, they settled down, their backs against the cool wall of the cave, seeking the warmth of each other. As the night grew darker, the once comforting quiet of their sanctuary began to fill with eerie sounds. At first, they dismissed the noises as the whispering of the wind or the settling of the earth. But as the moon rose, bringing a pale light with it, an unrecognizable terror crescendoed in the hidden depths of the cavern. They clung to each other, eyes wide and hearts pounding, every unknown noise magnifying their fear. The darkness seemed alive, suffocating every last bit of peace they carried from Eden. It was then that they heard it--a voice, too sinister to belong to any beast or natural fathom. At first, it was a low, guttural growl, reverberating through the cavern like the anguished cry of the earth itself. Then, it refined into a devilish melody, twisting and turning in the silence. It invoked images of shadow and fire, the same fire that had barred the gates of Eden against their return. Adam rose to his feet, the instinct to protect Eve fueling his courage.
