We are now in a meta-virtual reality, it's not like the good ol' levels we managed to escape from... The silence... is like a living being here. He moves through the area, past the workstations. NOTE: Blender can be used to create the office space with "Array" modifier for rows of workstations and desks. Import a headset model, slightly modify and age it for a perfect fit. Use "Particles" for dust and cobwebs. Jason passes a WHITEBOARD, scribbled with abandoned notes and theories. JASON (Whispering) Lots of people have lost their way here. Driven mad by their own curiosity, and by the overwhelming silence. They tried to find new connections, new realities... but couldn't crack the code. Jason pans the camcorder to a CLOSED DOOR at the far end of the room. JASON (Whispering) There's a door. But only a select few know the code. He approaches the door and takes out a PIECE of PAPER, with the code written on it. JASON (Whispering) Or perhaps someone with a little help from their online friend. And he types the code into the KEYPAD. Close up angle of the DOOR smoothly and quietly opening. INT. METAVERSE CONNECTION ROOM (LEVEL 10) - NIGHT Jason enters a smaller, darker room - this is the METAVERSE CONNECTION ROOM. He notices a LARGE, TRANSPARENT DEVICE at the center of the room, pulsating with a DIM BLUE LIGHT. NOTE: Blender can be used to create the device using "Emission" for the pulsating blue light. Increase "Strength" to make it stand out, and "Bloom" in render settings. JASON (Whispering) Wow, just as they described it... The central connection point of metaverse. The room is part of Level 76, an abandoned factory that goes as far as the eye can see. UC appears disoriented and clutching a camcorder in one hand. UC starts recording, giving us the perspective of the camcorder view on a shaky, unstable, and confused angle. UC staggers to their feet and turns around, capturing the environment: massive, heavy-looking, old-school factory equipment, abandoned and rusted, lining the factory floor. Some machines have an eerie slight movement due to disrepair. The air is heavy with dust particles and grime and it's hard to see too far in the distance. CUT TO: UC walks along the path of the equipment, holding the camcorder out ahead, continuously recording, thoughts racing - every now and then the shaking of the hand holding the camcorder becomes more agitated. UC (softly, to themselves) What... is this place? As UC continues forward, they hear faint mechanical sounds, like the distant hum of functional factory machinery. CUT TO: UC soon arrives at a huge door to another room with dim yellow light streaming from underneath it. They don't know what they're going to find inside, but it seems like the only way forward. UC slowly pushes open the door, revealing a vast maze-like room with dozens of tall, cylindrical tanks, some with flickering luminescent materials inside, illuminating the darkness. With every step UC takes through the maze-like structure,, it gets increasingly disorienting - the cylindrical tanks warp and shift in shape and size, creating a nauseating impression of movement in the shadows. UC finally encounters a figure (FIGURE), appearing humanoid, leaning against a tank with glowing, pulsating veins. The glowing veins appear to connect to the tank, interacting with the luminescent material. UC_records_figure.plot_description = FIGURE may be an organic-humanoid entity or perhaps an alien figure - its head is tilted back, eyes closed, clearly immersed in whatever connection it has with the glowing tank. The walls are lined with old and seemingly endless Coca-Cola advertisements from different time periods, and the explorer hears an old jingle echoing in the distance. The explorer laughs off the oddity and continues down the corridor, but as he walks the walls come closer and the ads become darker, channeling the character's deepest fears. It quickly escalates into a nightmare, only ending when the man crashes into a vending machine and buys a Coke with the last quarter in his pocket. With that, the walls recede, revealing an exit. Upon exiting, the protagonist finds a quarter in his shoe, forever making him question what was real and what was a hallucination. 3. Word: Ephemeral Title: The Ephemeral Exit Plot: A woman lost in the Backrooms finds a room labeled "Ephemeral Exit." The room presents a ticking clock on the wall and three doors that change their appearance every few seconds. Each door offers a potential exit, but she must choose one before the clock runs out. She frantically evaluates her options as time starts to run out. The protagonist finally chooses a door on instinct and steps through.
