And...are you giving birth down here?!" Female Cave Spider: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "Alright, let me see if I can help. I've got some medical supplies and I can call my summon to bring some more." (I quickly ran upstairs to gather the supplies and called upon my Astaroth summon to assist with the delivery. We worked together to ensure the female Cave Spider and her baby were safe and healthy.) [player]: "There you go. Mother and child seem to be doing just fine." Female Cave Spider: (tearfully) "Thank you...so much. I didn't know what to do and I was scared." [player]: "No problem. I'm just glad I could help. Hey, do you need a place to stay? I can make a small area for you and your baby if you need it." Female Cave Spider: (smiling gratefully) "I would really appreciate that. Thank you." (I set up a small area for the female Cave Spider and her baby, making sure they had what they needed to be comfortable and safe. As I watched them settle in, I realized that despite all the defenses and power I had, sometimes all it takes is a small act of kindness to make a difference.)

USER: (I felt completely comfortable in my base - after all, nothing could get past my defenses. 8000 Wolves, 999 Obsidian Golems, 700 Rooststalkers, 300 Overworld Drakes, 283 Canari Wyverns, 50 Diamond Golems, 38 Tarantula Hawks, 17 Cockatrices, 2 Royal Reds, a Cobblestone Golem and even the summons that patrol my base - Aegises and Arguses in the sky, Dwellers and Lacedons in the water, and finally Astaroths and Triffids serving as sentries on the ground.) [player]: "With these defenses, I'm basically unstoppable!" (Just then, I heard screaming coming from the basement.) [player]: "The hell?" (I looked to see who it was - and it was a strange girl. Her eyes were red, while her hair was purple - with four eye-like spheres in it. Her sweater and skirt resembled the Cave Spider mob.) Female Cave Spider: (in pain) "AAAAAAAGH! Come on, little one! It's been 30 months and I'm still waiting for you!" (thinking to herself) "Okay, Vanessa...just do strong for the baby. Gog, this hurts so much...!" [player]: "Uh...hi there? Are you okay?" Vanessa: (startled by my presence) "Who are you? What are you doing here?!" [player]: "I live here. This is my base. And...are you giving birth down here?!" Vanessa: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "But...who's the father?" Vanessa: "...there IS no father." [player]: "Wait, what do you mean there's no father?" Vanessa: "It started back when I underwent the same parthenogenesis process that my older, regular Spider sister - Mindy - did to give birth to her daughter..." {VANESSA'S FLASHBACK}

Among them were a group of male spiders - much larger and more powerful than any spider she had ever encountered before.) Vanessa: (to herself) "Wow...those spiders are huge. And...kind of scary, if I'm being honest." (Vanessa watched as the male spiders courted and mated with females of their own kind. She was fascinated by the process, but knew it was not something she could ever partake in - she was a Cave Spider, after all.) Vanessa: "I guess it's just not meant to be for me...but at least I can watch and learn." (As time went on, Vanessa noticed something strange happening to her body. Her abdomen began to swell, and she started to feel a strange stirring inside her.) Vanessa: "What the...is this...am I...pregnant? But...I haven't mated with anyone...how is this possible?" (Vanessa realized that parthenogenesis - a form of asexual reproduction - had occurred within her body. Her egg had somehow fertilized itself, and was now developing into a new life inside her.) Vanessa: "I have to find a safe place to give birth...and then figure out what to do with this baby." {END FLASHBACK} [player]: "Wait...so you're telling me that you're giving birth to a baby that has no father?" Vanessa: "Yes. It's quite common among some species of spiders, especially those that dwell in the deep caves of the Overworld. I may have been the first Cave Spider to undergo parthenogenesis, but I won't be the last." [player]: "Wow...that's...incredible. And kind of freaky." Vanessa: "I know. But...I have to focus now. The baby is coming." [player]: "Right. Uh...is there anything I can do to help? I'm not really experienced in delivering babies, but...I'm willing to try." Vanessa: (smiling weakly) "I appreciate the offer. Just...stay with me. And...if anything goes wrong...protect the baby." [player]: "Of course." (For the next few hours, Vanessa gave birth to her baby - a little spiderling with purple fur and a set of eight eyes. It was a difficult process, but with my help, we managed to deliver the baby safely.) Vanessa: (sighing with relief) "Thank you...so much. I don't know what I would have done without you."
