Confused, Wesley made his way inside, where he was greeted with a sight that nearly made him gasp. The team was there, gathered around a table in the lobby, discussing something heatedly. But it wasn't the team he knew. This was a younger group, with Angel, Cordelia, and Doyle at its heart. At first, Wesley was unsure of how to proceed. After all, he wasn't sure if these people even knew who he was, or if he had any place in this new reality. But something inside him told him to stay. It didn't take him long to catch up on what had happened. Somehow, he had been sent back in time, right before the team's fateful battle against the vampire master, Darla. And in this new timeline, Wesley had taken the place of his past self, a younger, more uncertain version of himself. He found himself slipping easily into this new role, though it was strange and disorienting at times. He was now the team's resident watcher, helping Angel and his friends face down the myriad of supernatural forces that threatened Los Angeles on a daily basis. As he settled into this new existence, Wesley found himself falling in love with this incarnation of Angel Investigations. He saw the potential that this team had, the potential they would eventually realize in his own time. And he was determined to help them get there. But as much as he loved this new reality, Wesley couldn't forget what he had lost in his own. He missed his friends, the ones he had fought alongside to save the world. And he couldn't help but wonder if, one day, he would find a way back to them.
