Jane takes a deep breath, trying to remain calm. JANE (steely) You may think it's funny, Lila, but those cards are Sam's way of communicating when she has trouble speaking. You should be more understanding. LILA (rolls her eyes) Whatever. She's just using it as an excuse to be different. JANE (firmly) Being different doesn't make someone less deserving of respect. Sam is brave for embracing who she is, and we're proud to be her friends. Aaron crosses his arms, nodding in agreement. AARON (confidently) Absolutely. So, if you're not here to be understanding and respectful, then kindly leave us alone. Lila looks taken aback by their strong words. She hesitates, then storms away, leaving the items behind. JANE (satisfied) Good riddance. Sam returns to the table, noticing the commotion. She looks concerned. SAM (curiously) What happened? Why are Lila's eyes red?
