It was a peculiar sight to see Doomguy, Postal Dude, Garrus Vakarian, and Thel 'Vadam working in the sprawling maze of flat-pack furniture and Swedish meatballs. Doomguy, a man of few words and incredible might, had found himself in the returns and exchanges department. His usually grim countenance now sported a blue and yellow IKEA uniform. "I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be processing refunds instead of expelling demons," grunted Doomguy, his arms crossed as he stared at a couple dragging in a half-assembled BILLY bookcase. Next to him, Postal Dude, always with a cigarette hanging from his lips, sighed deeply, "I know what you mean. Just yesterday, I was roaming around causing chaos, and today, I'm advising customers on shelf choices. Times change, man." Garrus was in the self-service warehouse, meticulously organizing flat-pack boxes with his sharp turian precision. He'd taken a liking to his new responsibilities, always striving for efficiency and order, a far cry from the life-or-death minutiae of space exploration. "You know, back on the Normandy, calibrating the ship's weapons was my thing," Garrus said to a nearby co-worker as he directed a hover-forklift with a deft hand. "But calibrating the stock inventory here? It's surprisingly satisfying." And finally, Thel 'Vadam, the Sangheili once known as the Arbiter, was tending to the customer service desk with a sense of honor and duty as he did with every task. "Humans sure have a fascination with smaller versions of their own furniture," Thel mused in his deep, resonant voice while handing over a DUKTIG play kitchen to a delighted child. "I still find it... intriguing." One typical weekday, a challenge arose that put the quartet to the test. A massive shipment of new products had arrived, and the store manager, a bewilderingly sentient AI known only as ALEXA, assigned them to set up the display for the new LOVBACKEN collection. "Time is of the essence, gentlemen," ALEXA boomed over the intercom. "We need those displays up before midday, or we will not be able to optimize customer flow." At once, the team sprang into action. Doomguy grabbed hold of the heavy boxes containing the display pieces and heaved them toward the showroom floor, his strength undiminished even by the most cumbersome of flat-packs....

Doomguy, silent as always, simply grunted his indifference as he hefted a huge MALM dresser as if it were made of cardboard, effortlessly arranging it in its designated display space. He might not have been able to rip and tear here, but he sure could lift and carry like no other. RAAM, towering and menacing even in his IKEA uniform, was in the midst of explaining the intricacies of a LACK coffee table assembly to a young couple. "And then... you secure the top to place with the provided allen key. You will find it... functional." The couple nodded, both a little pale and intimidated. "Th-thank you," the woman stammered before quickly scurrying away with her partner, cart trembling behind them. The day went on, customers milling about, occasionally approaching the fearsome team for assistance, each time met with varying results. During a momentary lull, Postal Dude approached Garrus as he was meticulously organizing the SKUBB storage boxes. "You know, this isn't so different from our usual gigs. Chaos, confusion, the overwhelming sense that everything is futile," he said with a smirk. "I don't know," Garrus replied, expertly adjusting his grip on his allen wrench, "The stakes are somewhat lower and I haven't had to calibrate anything yet, which is... unsettling." Meanwhile, Doomguy patrolled the mock living room displays, ensuring that all was in order. His green armor nearly clashed with the IKEA aesthetic, but he moved with a purpose that commanded respect... or, at the very least, made the customers avoid his path.
