Franchette, feeling apologetic, as she gets back into her wheelchair, starts saying she is sorry to Celestine, a sentiment that Celestine ridicules. Franchette is fearful that her regaining use of her legs will ruin their friendship, or cause Celestine's boyfriend leave her for Franchette, as well as a bunch of other things. Celestine tries to calm Franchette down, saying she is happy for Franchette as well and doesn't want for everyone to suffer for no reason.
