He's rehearsing his best anecdotes, hoping to catch the eye of Lisa, an attractive colleague who passes through occasionally. The aroma of lavender subtly fills the air as flowers are changing out by Joana, 50s, the office cleaner, who hums a gentle tune. She wears plain overalls, her hair tied back, and comfy sandals, apparently absorbed in her work. DAVID (under his breath) This is it, David. Today's the day she notices. Lisa enters, a dossier in her hands. She gives a polite but distracted smile to David and begins preparing her tea. DAVID (trying to be suave) I saw the quarterly reports, Lisa. DAVID (slurring) Yesss master... analysis is... spinning... round... Joana strides confidently towards David, an unexpected aura of command about her. JOANA Listen and obey, for I am your guide.
