USER: Create a completely different origin for Mimic from Marvel Comics. Include key years, such as birth and death years.
CHATBOT: Calvin Montgomery Rankin, the individual who would become known as Mimic, was born on October 7, 1988, in Arlington, Virginia. Unlike the original incarnation where his powers of mimicry were latent and later activated by a chemical explosion, this reimagined origin involves Calvin being born with his abilities, which presented during a traumatic childhood experience. **Early Life** From an early age, Calvin demonstrated an extraordinary talent for mimicking any action or skill he observed. It wasn't until the age of five, though, that the true nature of his abilities would surface during a house fire. Trapped and scared, Calvin inadvertently absorbed the skills and physical prowess of the firefighters rescuing him, enabling him to navigate his way out of the inferno unscathed. His parents, already strained by the burdens of their dwindling marriage, found Calvin's abilities to be the final wedge between them. Calvin's father, Dr. Brayden Rankin, a renowned geneticist, became obsessed with unlocking the potential of his son's abilities, believing them to be the next leap in human evolution, while his mother sought to give Calvin a normal childhood, away from the clutches of those who would exploit him. **Powers Development** In 2004, at the age of sixteen, tragedy struck when Calvin's mother died in a car accident. The loss prompted a heartbroken Calvin to run away from home, distancing himself from his father, who he felt was more interested in his abilities than his well-being. It was during his teenage years on the streets that Calvin mastered his power, learning to control and use it to protect himself and others. He also discovered the limitation of his ability: he could only mimic up to five individuals' powers or skills at any given time, retaining these abilities for a few hours. **Becoming Mimic** In 2006, Calvin encountered Professor Charles Xavier, who found him using Cerebro. After much persuasion, he joined Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, finding a purpose and accepting his code name, Mimic. Here, he honed his abilities further, becoming one of the most versatile members of the X-Men. **A New Destiny** Calvin's life took another drastic turn in the year 2015. He found himself at odds with the increasingly militant stance of some mutants and humans alike. He foresaw a future where his powers could either bridge the gap between mutants and humans or become the weapon to end all wars. In a bold move, in 2020, Calvin made his powers public ...
