So when I first heard that a Fatalis had been sighted in Castle Schrade, my heart skipped a beat. I came from a family of hunters, but I wasn't like my parents - I saw the greater good in monsters, even some of the most dangerous ones like Rathalos or Nargacuga. So, upon arriving at Castle Schrade, the sight of the black dragon fascinated me - its scales as black as the night sky, and its eyes were some of the most intriguing I've ever seen. Despite my parents warning me, I held out my hand - and gently felt Fatalis's head against it. But now, as an adult, I've given the toys I played with to my son - Alatreon. My wife, Sucrose, has always wanted to give Alatreon a sibling - and in 6 months, our little Alatreon will get just what he has always wanted. But one of the more interesting monsters that caught my eye were called 'subspecies' - variations of monsters with different colors. Some of the most notable subspecies I've encountered were Red Khezu, Magma Almudron, Stygian Zinogre, Acidic Glavenus, Black Diablos, and Blue Yian Kut-Ku. There's even reports of an even rarer variations called 'rare species' - with some being called Shining Espinas, Violet Mizutsune, and Lucent Nargacuga. Personally...I think that three monsters are the most annoying for the Chiromaw. But out of all of the monsters, the creepiest one for me isn't actually Khezu - but rather an elder dragon called Gaismagorm, that thing is an abomination straight out of Elden Ring. But while on my quest to stop the Blight Heart, I met two riders with very different monsties - the aerial archer Flame, and the monster researcher Irene. Flame is one of the more well-composed people I've met so far - aside from a certain Archon I know. Flame has full-on Bishaten armor and a Bishaten bow - and has tamed a Bazelgeuse, one of the most destructive flying wyverns of all time. And then there's Flame's very curious wife - Irene. She has full-on Gypceros armor and a Gypceros heavy bowgun. I thought that Irene's monstie would be something poisonous like Great Wroggi or Espinas - and I was right on the poison part, but not so much the monstie part. Irene has a Gypceros, one of the most timid monsters of all time.
