This valley, named "Val Verde" by earlier explorers, was a land lost to time, where evolution had taken a unique path, allowing dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures to thrive alongside new, miraculous forms of plant and animal life. Shanna's parents, Patrick and Gwendolyn O'Hara, were leading biologists and conservationists who stumbled upon Val Verde in 1984. They decided to set up a research camp in this hidden valley to study its incredible biodiversity, completely isolated from the outside world. Shanna was born in this lush paradise, her early years marked by a unique closeness to nature that no other human in modern times had experienced. Tragedy struck in 1993 when a group of poachers, seeking the mythical Valley of Diamonds rumored to be in Val Verde, attacked the O'Hara camp. Both Patrick and Gwendolyn were killed in the raid, leaving young Shanna orphaned. The animals of the valley, recognizing the bond between the child and their world, protected Shanna. She was raised by a coalition of the valley's apex predators, including a leopard named Zar and an elephant matriarch named Gaya, each bestowing upon her the skills and instincts needed to survive. Over the years, Shanna became the protector of Val Verde, vowing to keep it hidden from greedy eyes. Her incredible agility, combat skills, and ability to communicate with the valley's creatures were forged in the wild, making her a formidable opponent. In 2010, her existence was finally discovered by the outside world when a crashed plane's survivors stumbled into Val Verde. Among them was Kevin Plunder, the modern-day adventurer known as Ka-Zar. Despite her initial distrust, Shanna and Kevin formed a strong bond, recognizing their shared commitment to protecting the natural world. They teamed up to drive out a new wave of intruders who followed the survivors' trail back to the valley. Shanna's adventures soon took her beyond the confines of her home, as she and Kevin faced threats that endangered the balance of nature on a global scale. However, Val Verde remained her heart's true home, a paradise she fiercely protected. In 2025, Shanna the She-Devil tragically falls in a noble battle against an international corporation determined to exploit Val Verde's natural resources.
