As the weeks turned into months, the rehabilitation center became a battleground in my own personal war. My physical therapists were like generals, their guidance sent me surging forward. My speech therapist, a cunning linguist, provided masterful strategies for reacquiring the ability to convert thoughts into words--words that flowed from my lips like a slow and halting tap eventually turned into a mighty river.
