The scene portrays Matilda's life in prison, which has a bare minimum of accommodations for her disability, just enough to not having to transfer her somewhere else. Matilda experiences many difficulties, but tries to manage them. In fact, she is most concerned about her friend - rather intimate one - sarcastic and eccentric fellow journalist Marcel Messier. He is a self-described idealist and pacifist, but she fears his feelings towards Matilda may make him contemplate doing something drastic, and he is unfortunately able to come up with some crazy plots.
