The Beiyang Government in this scenario is never formed as the presidential parliamentary republic of the first Republic of China like in real life but is instead the unitary parliamentary royal imperial monarchy of the Empire of China formed by Han Chinese Qing military general turned rising star in the Beiyang Government, Yuan Shikai in 1915, albiet formed in 1912 immediately after the Xinhai Revolution in this timeline and with the descendants of the Imperial House of Zhu as its imperial family instead of having Shikai as its first Emperor like in real life. The first Emperor of this timeline's Beiyang Government-ruled Empire of China still has the combined regal and era name of Hongxian [Promote the Constitution] like Yuan Shikai when he became Emperor of Han China in 1915 in real life and Shikai still helps in the establishment of a peerage for the Empire of China, but he is merely the Premier/Prime Minister of the Ming Cabinet in this timeline and not the Emperor of Han China like in real life. Due to Imperial Japan helping the mostly Manchu Qing Imperial Court in Manchuria seize control of the Han Chinese bandit faction/military junta/Beiyang Government faction/warlord clique of the Manchuria-based Fengtian Clique from the Fengtian Clique's leader, the Han Chinese bandit turned bannerman in the Manchu military system and then joint warlord of Manchuria and leader of the Fengtian Clique during and after the Xinhai Revolution, Zhang Zhuolin, known as "the Old Marshal" sometime after the Xinhai Revolution and [the Japanese] also making Manchuria into a Japanese protectorate after it [Japan] helps the Qing imperial court in Manchuria seize control of the Fengtian Clique from Zhuolin, and the Beiyang Government ruling over Han China being Japanophilic and also being heavily manipulated by Japan even in this timeline, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen finds himself slowly marginalized even within the Han nationalist and Han supremacist political party which formed from the Tongmenghui after the Xinhai Revolution, the Kuomingtang [Chinese Nationalist Party] and commits suicide under suspicious circumstances sometime later. The KMT-ruled Nationalist China based in Guangdong and Guangxi is still formed like in real life, and Yunnan regains its independence from both Manchuria and Han China under the Yunnan Clique, but with Yat-Sen's earlier death Nationalist China becomes an independent Cantonese republic in all but name, remaining confined to Guangdong and Guangxi and the Daili Kingdom and the Daili Kingdom's imperial family, the Bai-Han Chinese Imperial House of Duan, are restored as the government of Yunnan through the Yunnan Clique in this timeline. East Turkestan, Inner Mongolia, Tibet, Shaanxi and Hui-dominated Central China under the Ma clique never become part of Han China in this timeline and remain independent. This and the assassination of Yat-Sen's most famous protege, Chiang Kai-Shek by a triad assassin when he tried to take over Nationalist China and seize the territory of the Qing in this timeline prevents the Second Sino-Japanese War between the Beiyang Government, Manchuria and Japan on one side and the USSR, Nationalist China and the USA on the other and allows the Beiyang Government, Manchuria and Imperial Japan to all survive post-1947 into the 21th century and beyond.
