As he grows more and more distraught, his best bud Donkey shows up on the scene. "What's the matter, Shrek?" he asks, looking around at the sea of dead fish. "Did you eat a bad onion or something?" Shrek, overwhelmed by guilt, explains what's happened. But Donkey doesn't seem to grasp the gravity of the situation. "Eh, fish schmish," he says with a shrug. "Who cares about them little guys anyway?" This sets Shrek off on a rant about the importance of every living creature, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. And with that, he vows to make things right. And so, with Donkey in tow, Shrek sets out on a journey to find a way to revive the fish. They scour the swamp, seeking out any magical remedies that may be able to bring the sea creatures back to life. Eventually, after numerous setbacks and hijinks, they stumble upon an ancient potion that promises to revive even the most lifeless of creatures. With hope in their hearts, they bring it back to the pond and pour it in. And lo and behold, the fish begin to stir. Just as they're about to pounce, Shrek lets out another monumental fart, sending them flying across the reef. The mermaid can't stop laughing as they swim off into the night.
